Become An American Red Cross Certified Babysitter!

American Red Cross babysitting & child care courses can help you provide quality care to children of all ages. Developed by experts in the industry, our online and in-person courses are available to those ages 11 and older.

Please note: Red Cross child care classes are not intended for those seeking certification for state-licensed child care providers and does not meet all state requirements for such certification.

At Fierce First Response, the pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification may be added to the American Red Cross  babysitting course.

Successful completion of these courses gives you a two-year certification and access to refresher materials – so you can keep your skills sharp between certifications.

Choking in Children and Infants

  • One U.S. child chokes to death approximately every five days.
  • 75 percent of choking deaths occur in children under the age of 3 years
  • Choking is the fourth leading cause of unintentional death in children under the age of 5

First Aid for Accidents and Emergencies

  • Each year, about 2,000 children ages 14 and under die as a result of a home injury.
  • Falls are the leading cause of nonfatal injury for children.
  • Each year about 100 children are killed and 254,000 are injured as a result of bicycle-related accidents. 
  • Greatest number of pediatric burn patients are infants and toddlers younger than 3 years of age burned by scalding liquids.
